February is American Heart Month – a time when all people, especially women, are encouraged to focus on their cardiovascular health. High blood pressure (hypertension) and elevated cholesterol and lipids (dyslipidemia) are classic signs of cardiovascular disease. Once diagnosed with this, patients usually begin a muti-medication therapy to treat it, which can be both difficult and expensive to maintain. It can also lead to drug-induced nutrient loss because of the medications themselves. Because of this, many individuals try to treat their cardiovascular issues through nutritional supplements.
Before looking toward supplements, however, we should be looking first at lifestyle changes! Poor diet consisting of too many processed foods and too little essential fatty acids are a common culprit of cardiovascular disease. Daily exercise is important to protect our hearts and combat this disease as well as lowering stress and maintaining a healthy weight.
Berberine Support
When it comes to lowering lipids, Montana Apothecary and Co. carries a product called Berberine Support which is an herbal product shown to lower cholesterol levels comparable to statin drugs. It also can improve blood sugar and insulin levels, comparable to metformin.
Omega Max
Another product we carry, Omega Max, is full of healthy omega-3 oils that can help offset harmful fats and oils and decrease overall body inflammation.
Pycnogenol
Products that have been found to keep blood vessels open and minimize hypertension caused by narrowed vessels include Pycnogenol, which can shut down the production of inflammatory enzymes and increase blood and oxygen flow through the blood vessels to the heart – which encourages a healthy heart muscle and aerobic endurance!
Nitric Oxide Formula:
Nitric Oxide Formula, containing L-arginine and L-citrulline, supports healthy nitric oxide (NO) levels throughout the body. NO is responsible for keeping blood vessels open and blood flowing. By using Nitric Oxide Formula paired with Pycnogenol daily, blood flow, oxygen perfusion, stamina and performance have increased for individuals with poor vascular health.
